Welcome to a new feature: Foundation Friday!
I own A LOT of foundations and each one of them work for me in their own special way, for my different needs (extra coverage, less coverage, matte, dewy etc) Foundation shopping is a little like bra or jeans shopping, it can be quite overwhelming . So over the next weeks, I will review my own foundation collection on (most) Fridays because there might just be one that will suit your needs!
I am very tanned after returning from my holidays so I will start with one of the only 2 foundations in my possession that are dark enough for my current skin colour.
First of all, my skin type is normal, a little dehydrated developing into an oily t zone during the day. I have open pores, scarring, lines and uneven pigmentation. What works for me, might not necessarily work for you.

My thoughts:
It has quite a matte, velvety finish. I chose to use a primer that has reflective properties to make it less “mask-Like” and make it look a little more dewy. Applying with the damp sponge works best. Bouncing the sponge up and down makes it settle and fill my open pores, lines and scars and gives a lovely even finish.
A little goes a long way, and it probably didn’t need setting with a powder.
By mid day it settled a little around the nose and chin and I became quite shiny. It has been a warm busy day and I had to resist touching up. I usually touch up at lunch time, but I think it still looks ok without the touch up.
It certainly does not offer 24 hours wear. As you can see on the right, after 8 hours wear, my forehead is very shiny, my nose needs powdering and it looks a little patchy on the cheeks, but it is definitely not bad for a 8 hour day. Both images were taken in daylight and are not edited or filtered.
So here is how I rate it:
- Packaging: 8 out of 10
- Texture/blendability: 9 out of 10. Because of the thick consistency a damp Beauty Blender will work best.
- Coverage: 8 out of 10. No need for a concealer, I just layer on the area that needs a little more with a smaller brush.
- Longevity: 7 out of 10 .
- Value for money: 8 out of 10. Full price of $29.95 but can be found on special in some pharmacies or supermarkets.

Thanks Serene! It is a little harder reviewing when it is Summer. Makes it really hard to keep your foundation on!
