It is Spring!
And do you, like me, get a sudden urge to dump the black clothes and update your wardrobe with something fresh and new?
I have done my research and have broken down the trends in the shops for Spring/Summer 2016. And for the next few weeks, I will show you how to incorporate these trends into your wardrobe. I don’t know about you, but I get a little overwhelmed with everything that is offered in the stores right now, so I am doing the hard yakka for you. I will be heading to Westfield Miranda, NSW (my second home) and picking out the right pieces to be bang on trend this Spring/Summer.
Thursday Night is a special night for me. For the last few years, nearly every Thursday night is spend with my daughter at Westfield Miranda (or as the locals call it The Fair). We have a bite to eat, and check out the fashion and beauty stores. I am not going to lie. I call in to Country Road nearly every week, to check out their clothing, accessories and home wares. They have brought back a very comprehensive and beautiful work wear collection which I love, and their Spring/Summer range is just delicious.
One trend that is prominent in Country Road’s New Collection is the colour NAVY. I see this as a great warm weather alternative to my beloved BLACK clothes. It is such a versatile colour, make it look nautical with Inky blue, whites and stripes and white sneakers (yes, they are still happening!) or more of a military feel with gold buttons and the use of accent colours like tan, yellow, grey or khaki.
Another great trend that is continuing on for this season: the Off the Shoulder tops and dresses. I am so glad that the bare shoulder look is still on trend this Spring/Summer because I believe it is the most flattering way of baring a little skin and it really suits everyone. Country Road has numerous options with tops and dresses.
Here are my picks of Country Road’s NAVY pieces and OFF THE SHOULDER top:

Photo credit: Leanne Perry. We took most of these photos at the beautiful space of Little Lane Workshops, where we had just finished a photography and styling course. Thank you Sonia for letting us use your gorgeous place! x The outdoor photo was taken on the roof area of Westfield Miranda at the beautiful dining area full of restaurants, cafes and entertainment as well!
The Country Road Double Breasted Blazer is an investment piece that will serve me well wearing it with jeans, or to work for a more office look. In fact all of these pieces will transform into work pieces with the right accessories.
Navy looks really nice with crisp whites but marries up so beautifully with tan (or cognac as I have matched them up with above).
Off the shoulder tops are my obsession. I usually wear a bandeau underneath because I have not found a comfortable strapless bra yet! Having a top with a second draped layer, hides a multitude of sins, and shhh. you can wear nothing at all underneath if you want to!
Look, I could have gone nuts buying more pieces, but my husband would kill me. So could I have bought more, I would have gone for these pieces, all available from Country Road, and if you go to my local Westfield Miranda, tell them I sent you!

I hope you found some pieces that you like, that will work well for your life style. Next week I will be discussing 2 more Spring/Summer trends, this time from Katie’s!
Check back next Sunday!

Thank you Ingrid! I am very good at window shopping too! x
Thank you Barbe for doing the hard yards. I don’t have alot of time to shop for clothes. Seeing you put these looks together means I can just head straight to one or two stores, grab my favourite pieces from your recommendations and know that they are going to look great together.
You’re Welcome Leanne! Just have fun with it x
