Less than 2 weeks to go until Mother’s Day 8th of May! And I know it is about being valued as a parent, and honouring the person that either cared for you or gave birth to you, showing them how much they are appreciated and loved, but let’s be shallow here. LET’S TALK ABOUT PRESSIES!

And it can be anything from the Mother’s Day stall at school, or a beautiful handmade keepsake, or do what I do  (and my kids have left school, are working and can afford it!) I tell them: anything from Chanel is just fine.

Of course I am only kidding – kinda – but to make it easier for the kids, tell them to head over to Auntie Fashionista in Suburbia’s blog, because there are gift suggestions for each type of mum…   AND. There is a HUGE week of GIVEAWAYS each day this week, so they may not need to spend anything at all!

The Beauty Queen Mum  She looks after her skin, and knows her AHA’s from her Glycolics. She is not afraid to do the Smokey eye/nude combo, but is just as happy to do a bold lip with liner and her brows are on fleek. Treat her to a collection of skincare. Go for a cleanser, a toner, a day and a night moisturiser and an eye cream. Put them in a cute basket or a wash bag and you have organised the BEST pressie ever.  As for make up: The big department stores have some great make up collection kits just for Mother’s Day. Have a shop around, a lot of them are fantastic value.        Don’t forget perfume. As cliché as it may seem, everyone loves a good fragrance. There some beautiful ones out there. Be guided by the sales assistant and try to describe your mum as clearly as possible, because this gives them an idea what sort of fragrance might suit.  The Fashionista Mum     She wears the latest trends and likes to mix and match high end with a little bit of Kmart . Crazy about sparkles and likes an accessory or 3. And if you are feeling very generous, engage a Fashion Stylist in your area to go shopping with Mum for the day. In the long run it will save her money, due to no more impulse buys with regrets. Go google, or ask me, I know a few good ones in each State. x

The Homebody Mum    She devours Interior Design Magazines (get her a subscription!) and her favourite shows are the Home Reno ones. Nothing makes her more happy to visit Kmarts home decor area and to sit back and admire her creative handiwork.

The Active Mum  Queen Bey has released a range of gorgeous active wear through Top Shop and The Iconic* online.  Beyonce has thought of everything: hard core crop tops with tight little shorts, but also comfy jogging pants, and loose tshirts. The ” I just need Time Out” Mum              And who doesn’t need that every once in a while?

Create IOU vouchers in lieu of housework, lawns, breakfast in bed, an  hour of just doing nothing for your mum, and she can hand them out whenever she wants! 

Tickets to the movies. Always welcome to have a little 2 hour escape. Make them Gold Class Tickets and she will be in 7th Heaven.

How about voucher for a pedicure, a manicure, a facial or a hair treatment. Who wouldn’t like that? Check where Mum likes to go (ask her girlfriends, they will know) and let her be spoiled.

Fill a basket with products for her very own pamper session. On my wish list (and look out for it to be one of the giveaways!) is the Oblephika Siberia Bathsalts and Footcream. I am already addicted to the shampoo and conditioner and these 2 would be a welcome addition.  Just check out the packaging!!!

So there it is. Us mums really aren’t that fussy, these are just suggestions. We are truly, honestly happy with a coffee and a piece of toast in bed, a hug and a time spent with our families.  And a bit of Chanel wouldn’t go astray!
