The week that was…

What a week!

Let’s start with last Friday shall we?

I picked up my new car!!! It isn’t just “A Car”. It is my car, not our car. Paid for with my earnings, from my hard work. If that sounds brattish, it probably is, but I am just a little proud of myself. So bite me.

10629359_10152316670477286_5077643689126449192_oSo far she isn’t named yet. I am welcoming name suggestions that are suitable to a spunky, dark, sexy lady. For my car that is.

A very happy one. Both my boys who are in the Navy are home for the weekend. I have my whole family complete. I have just spent about 4 times the value of a normal shopping budget and I have enough to feed a small European Country. So good to have them home.

I spend the rest of the weekend showing off and polishing up my car. 🙂

Sunday was spent planning my week, and I wrote a little post on how to cover those pesky grey hairs until your hairdresser comes back from holidays. (Should be a law against that!)

First day of September, First day of Spring! The beginning, of course, of my working week, but also the beginning of Dreamweek: the big fundraising week for Look Good…Feel Better. I took part in #7daysoflipstick, taking selfies every day with a different lippy to create awareness for the fantastic work LG…FB does. I volunteer for 2 different charities, and LGFB is one of them.

It was also the first day of the new September Style a day Challenge by Fox in Flats. I am a sucker for these challenges, and I plan on participating as much as I can. We will see. September is going to be a pretty busy month.

Work happened. And after work I finally got my hair did! Hallelujah!! Praise the hair dye! I immediately look 10 years younger.

Busy day, but nice to come home to a parcel. Something I had ordered from Ebay earlier: a special fancy schmanzy ring light for my DSLR Canon. It is dark by the time I get home, so the only time I get to do any good filming or photo taking is in the weekend. (that does not include sneaky car selfies taken in the car in my lunch break)

The plan is, that I do make up tutorials in either photographic form, or videos with this light as requested by some friends. Yes, that includes the winged eyeliner girls.

It is now Sunday, and the ring is still in its box. Unopened. It will happen.

Sydney Vogue Fashion Night was on. A shopper’s delight with fashion parades, discounts, and goody bags in the middle of Sydney CBD. I actually took the exit to the City on my way home, heading for the event just to take some photos for my blog, but then it started pouring rain so I went home. Now if I were a fantastically, successful fashion blogger, I should have braved the elements and I should have been there. But I was broke, and tired, and obviously not dedicated enough.

I did get a serious case of FOMO, but was stoked to come home to my first Her Fashion Box subscription box in ages. Loved opening it, it had some great stuff. See my post HERE

And then I cried myself to sleep because I should have gone.

The. Busiest. Day. Ever. So much running around. I really wanted to focus on work to get absolutely everything done before 4-5pm.

The Look Good Feel Better Dream Ball was on, and as I do every year, I volunteer my time to help out wherever I am needed on the night. It is a glittering affair and I look forward to going every year.

It is always a race against time to get ready after work to be at the venue at 6pm. I managed to get a quick appointment at a hair dresser in the city to do me a quick up-do, and i did my make up whilst the hairdresser was teasing, spraying and tucking. A quick change in the public toilets and I was ready to go.

The theme of the Ball was Circus , and the venue was  the Iconic Luna Park Big Top. The room was stunningly decorated, the entertainment was awesome and the food looked yum. All the guests looked gorgeous. I always try to buy a couple of lucky dip tickets, and this year I scored a Chanel quilted Nylon Scarf, a bottle of Clinique Happy and a bottle of Signorina by Salvatore Ferragamo.

Exhausted from yesterday. So I took it easy and slept in. I then got a surge of energy and proceeded to clean out my wardrobe. I find it so hard to part with clothes and shoes. I found a pair of shoes, in its original box, with the docket from 2005. Time to go.

After 3 huge bags full of clothes to donate to charity, or for my daughter to sell at a market stall she is planning on next month, I still ended up with 10 black skirts in several lengths and fabrics, and I don’t even want to go and count the jeans and black tops in my wardrobe.

I also visited the Urban Rituelle Warehouse sale. OMG did I stock up!

You may remember my write up on the launch of their Weekender range. I am a huge fan. I stocked up on my favourite candles: the Alpine Loft, and the Amber and Musk candles. Also started my Christmas shopping. (yeah hate me, I don’t care)

I had met Leanne, the owner,  previously at the bloggers event, and she was there when I was shopping up big. She very kindly donated something special as a give away for my blog. Watch this space!

Taken up by State Championships for Cheerleading. My daughter is part of Shire Elite Cheerleading. Today she was doing a routine with her group in the Cheer category. Their Group came first!! Here are some photos:

So lastly, today was Father’s Day in Australia. My husband works hard, cooks every night, puts his family first at all times, and love his kids unconditionally and forever. You are a great dad, I love you. This is what I posted for him on FB, please click on the link below.

Happy Father’s Day!

Hope all you Fathers, Father Figures, and single mums doing two roles had a wonderful day. You deserve it.

Til next time,

  1. What a lovely car! What about Evie for a name? (its after a pokemon but she is a cute foxie like pokemon!) It sounds like you had a great week and high five for cleaning out your closet. x

  2. Oh wow a light ring?! I’ve never even heard of this! I need this for my food photos!! How much was it Barbe? xx

    1. Hey Charlie! It is still unpacked in the box! been flat chat. I bought it on Ebay for AUS$38 including postage. Hopefully it does the trick. Watch this space!

  3. This post was really fun! I found your blog on SBB webinar , and this was really fun to read 🙂 I can’t congratulate you enough on your car! It’s a huge achievement – I’m a big automobile fan myself, and I only hope I’ll purchase one day my own beauty. About the name… maybe something panther-like? 🙂
I really liked your diaries. I think in the future I’ll buy a ring flash myself, as I’m doing photography too, but I’d love to hear about your experience with it. And really, no worries about missing out the Fashion Night Out. They happen yearly, it’s not that big a deal 🙂
