If you are a bit of a skincare nerd like me, keep reading! 2019 saw the release of next generation skincare using high tech technology to come up with the most intelligent products we have ever seen. The future of skincare is definitely here.
The term “anti-ageing” skincare is no longer enough (a pet hate of mine grrr). Neither are pretty packaging and promises.
As “Skintellectuals” we do our research of ingredients, know the function of each of the Vitamins in our routines and have a good understanding of the different types of acids. Cosmeceuticals now blur the division between over-the-counter products and treatments prescribed by dermatologists.
From working on the skins microbiome to adaptive formulas, skincare is no longer just skincare – they are reparative, preventative treatments that use a scientific approach to help with signs of ageing skin.
Here are some of the best ones I used in 2019:
Developed after 20 years of the most advanced research. Now, Lancôme’s iconic anti-aging face serum –Advanced Génifique has been updated with a new complex of 7 pre and probiotic fractions to act on the skin microbiome.
This already powerful serum, has now been updated with a new complex of 7 pre and pro biotic fractions to act on the skins microbiome. This is very exciting: The skin microbiome is a beneficial living eco system of micro organisms, and its balance is essential to skins health. A balanced microbiome means a strong skin barrier, improved texture, radiance, elasticity and firmness. A very powerful serum, faster microbiome recovery results in a stronger and more youthful looking skin.
This is my third bottle, but the first one with the addition of all those beautiful pre and probiotic ingredients. I also love the perfectly measured amount in the hygienic dropper. I use it after cleansing and before moisturising. Serum has smaller molecules and can penetrate deeper and provide a high concentrations of active ingredients. Balanced skin means stronger skin. It makes my skin dewy and beautifully smooth.
NIA-114™ is our patented, optimized form of Niacin/Vitamin B3 clinically proven to strengthen the skin barrier and supercharge the performance of other ingredients for visibly transformed, more youthful skin.
NIA-114™ – or the Smart Molecule as the good people from StriVectin call it -is a form of B3. B3 has the ability to strengthen the Skin Barrier to protect against environmental stresses, and wear and tear caused by ageing. B3 is also known to stimulate the fibroblasts that can increase the elasticity in the skin. On top of that, it can reduce inflammation.
This year I tried the Anti-Wrinkle range, which was wonderful: Hydrating but not greasy, just how I like it. The Multi-Action melting cleanser removes every single scrap of make up and is one of my favourite cleansers. I used the Retinol at night, for resurfacing the skin, leaving my skin smooth on waking.
Our Adaptive Skincare products decode your skin’s individual needs, delivering replenishment, hydration, protection and recovery all day long. Using remarkable advancements in biotechnology, our formulas respond in real-time to deliver results at the cellular level.
Priori Skincare was created in 2005. It has always used the latest in bio-technology, using cosmeceutical ingredients to assist the skin in repairing and renewing. The super hero ingredients are complexes – synergising one active ingredient with other ingredient, like: LCA Complex (Vitamin Rich Lactic Acid), Q+SOD Complex (super oxide against free radicals), DNA Enzyme Complex and more, basically resetting the factory settings of the skin.
Now, this may all seem very confusing to you, but you can take it from me, that using this range has made my skin the best it has ever been. It worked particularly well in reducing pigmentation and fine lines. I highly recommend this skincare range.
Skin care designed for mature, sensitive skin, providing firmness, vitality and comfort thanks to the efficacy of a unique trio of active ingredients.
Rejoice, those of us with mature, sensitive skin! A skincare range that uses a natural alternative to retinol is very welcome. Since menopause set in, I have developed a sensitivity that I never had previously, and I don’t believe I am the only one.
The hero ingredient is Sytenol , together with other innovative ingredients plus my favourite Jojoba oil, helps to restore firmness and intense hydration.
To me the hero product is the DermAbsolut Recontouring Serum, a precisely measured dose with one click. My skin felt hydrated and smooth. Did it make my skin firmer? Hard to tell, I don’t feel I suffer from a lot of sagging, but boy, my skin felt super soft and smooth.
*Please note, all products were gifted for reviewing purposes. I was not paid to do any testing. These personal results are from using these products for a minimum of 4 weeks, and results may differ for other people. I am 56, have fairly good skin, good texture, open pores with a tendency to go oily on the T zone. Fine lines around the eyes.
I am excited to see new developments in skincare. Have I missed any? What are some of your favourites to try?
Til Next time,
