Foundation Friday – Lacura Beauty up to 24hr Liquid Foundation

Lacura Beauty 24hr Liquid Foundation from Aldi

lacura aldi foundation

As per my reader Shaz’s recommendation.

RRP $7.99 at selected Aldi Stores. I tried to find this particular one online but couldn’t find it! Try your local Aldi, every store seems to have different stock.  (there is also a $4.99 version AND a caviar version that I will trial another Friday)

What they say:

ALDI’s exclusive skin care and beauty range

Each product is individually formulated to provide the most effective treatment, no matter what your lifestyle or age. In addition, Lacura® skin care and cosmetic products are dermatologically approved to help ensure that your personal regime will not be compromised.

Additionally, there are special limited releases to the range, which I think this foundation is one of. My apologies if you can’t find it, but just in case you can and  are wondering what it is like, this is for you.

My thoughts:

I love a pump action dispenser. Hygienic and no wastage.  There is no distinguishable scent. Lovely and creamy to apply, but as you apply and buff it in,  it seems to disappear into the skin so a little more was needed, which increased the coverage. This foundation is definitely build able.

When I read the label closer, it says “up to” 24hr.  So that could be anywhere between one hour and 24hrs?

It lasted longer than an hour but certainly not 24hrs. Even with a setting spray.  It started separating very quickly on my T Zone and by lunchtime, it had all but disappeared off my nose, chin and forehead. No biggie, I would just reapply. The finish that I really like when first applied, the velvety, satin finish doesn’t last, which is a shame. Next time I will set it with a translucent powder, see if that makes a difference…

I guess unless it is a very matte foundation, most foundations will turn extra glowy on my Tzone, especially in Summer.

On a side note: how great is this lipstick??? Also from Aldi! The Lacura 24hr Duo Lipstick in Pure Red. $7.99. Liquid applicator on one side, and a balm on the other to stop the lips from drying out. I am very impressed with this one! This outlasted the foundation!

So here is how I rate it:

  • Packaging: 9 out of 10 (the dropper can be a bit messy)
  • Texture/blendability: 9 out of 10.
  • Coverage: 7 out of 10. I prefer more coverage, this one offers medium at the most
  • Longevity: 4 out of 10 .
  • Value for money: 9 out of 10.  So what if I have to reapply during the day? At $7.99 that is definitely forgivable!

Have you tried this foundation? What are your thoughts?
