It is HOUNDSTOOTH (think David Jones) funkier little sister. HOUNDSTOOTH is your 9-5 gal, but GINGHAM parties in the weekend.
The name may originate from Malay genggang, meaning ‘ajar, separate’. Alternately, it is speculated that the fabric now known as gingham may have been made at Guingamp, a town in Brittany, France, and that the fabric may be named after the town. When originally imported into Europe in the 17th century, gingham was a striped fabric, though now it is distinguished by its checkered pattern.
The GINGHAM trend is everywhere – in the traditional blue and white, or in a range of other colours. Is this something you would wear or does it remind you of a table cloth or your old school uniform?
Here are some of my picks.

After seeing the Hansen and Gretel drool worthy pieces, I could be persuaded to add some more of this print to my wardrobe. For now, I just have one shirt that I picked up in Bali of all places.
And if that isn’t enough for you, I have found some GINGHAM designer gear for you to shop. Miu Miu, Diane von Furstenberg or Michael Kors anyone?
Forget about “Annie Get your Gun” and “Oklahoma!”, GINGHAM is fresh and fun and so on-trend right now!
Til next time,
