Every  month, the lipsticks come in a different cosmetic bag, all very cute.

This review I will be rating each bag out of 10 on the following merits:

  • Value for money
  • Quality of products
  • Colour selection

Lip Monthly Bag March 2016

Lip Monthly March 2015

  • Ecolips Eco Tint – A lovely sheer tinted lip moisturiser, US$4.49 not available in Australia
  • Cargo Catalina Blush /Bronzer (Medium) Duo US$10, Cargo is available from Mecca however, not this particular travel duo
  • Camilla Lipstick in nr 44, US$14, not available in Australia
  • Camilla Lipgloss in nr 44, US$14, not available in Australia

Total value according to Lip Monthly : US$42.49

My favourites this month?

My favourite is the lovely Eco Tint lip tint. Great weekend product: has a slightly minty smell and a sheer colour. They are Fair trade certified and only use natural products. This will be in my bag in the Winter months!

Unfortunately I forgot to photograph swatches of the Cargo little duo set. It is cute, great for travel, but unfortunately a little light and sheer for me. I will be passing this on. The Camilla Hydrating lipstick is lovely and pigmented. I much prefer the lipstick to the lipgloss. It applies a little patchy. The gloss over the top of the lipstick makes me feel like I should be dancing at Studio 55. (now I am showing my age! Remember that old fashioned word Disco?)

I give the March Lip Monthly bag a 6 out of 10,  just because of the limited colour selection.

I just wanted to add how much the Camilla looks like a MAC lippy, and they are not the only one that copy the black bullet, see below image with Be a Bombshell from the June 15 Lipmonthly, Camilla and MAC.

Lip Monthly Bag April 2016

Lip Monthly April 2016

  • Starlooks Gloss in Vanilla  US$9 – not available in Australia
  • Hikari Lipstick in Peony US$13 – not available in Australia
  • Glamour Dolls Gloss Snob (Wildflower) ($1.99) – Not available in Australia
  • Pencil Me in Eyelinerin Denim/USA $6.99

Total value according to Lipmonthly: US$30.98

Overview:

I actually quite like the Hikari products, they seem to be a regular in the Lip Monthly bags. We have had a blush in the December 15 bag, and amazing lip crayon in the October 15 bag and another Hikari lipstick in my first bag: March 2015 . If this Hikari lipstick wasn’t another pink, I would have given that my favourite badge.

I like the cheapest product of them all the best: the Glamour Dolls Gloss Snob. It is actually not so much a gloss, more a creamy liquid lipstick. A nice bright colour that feels lovely on the lips. The Starlooks gloss is nice, and smells nice too, but $9 for an itty bitty little gloss?  The pencil was a nice addition. It is soft and metallic and has its own sharpener!

I give the January Bag a 7 out of 10 but would have been an 8 if the Hikari lippy was anything else but PINK.

Lip Monthly Bag May 2016

Lip Monthly May 2016

  • So Susan Jello Shot Rosy cheek and lip gel – US$24.95, not available in Australia
  • Manna Kadar 3 in 1 Gloss in Manna Babe – US$24, not available in Australia
  • Dirty Little Secret lipstick in Guilty Pleasure – US$10, not available in Australia
  • Jor’El Parker, Fango Mud Therapy Mask – US$10, not available in Australia

Total Value according to Lip Monthly: US$68.95

Wow. A very good value bag this month! The So Susan Jello Shot is amazing. I love a quirky product and this one is super quirky! A clear gel that is amazingly pigmented and looks different on everyone! This is how it is described:

A gel-stain hybrid formula infused with Heat Shift™ technology that instantly transforms into a healthy, rosy flush upon contact onto your skin according to your body temperature.

Me likey.

The Manna Kadar is a beautiful gloss/stain. Extremely pigmented and feels lovely on the lips. The Dirty Little secret (cute name) is nice, but too pale pink for me. Yup passing this one on!

I have not tried the mask yet, but it looks to be very nice product. 100% vegan, (So Susan is too), it contains almond and avocado oil and volcanic ash. This will be my Sunday Night Mask!

I rate the May Lip Monthly an 8 out of 10. Value is fantastic, quality is definitely there, but again I received 2 pink products. grrrrr!

In all, I still believe Lip Monthly is great value for money. If you are a lipstick addict like me (check out my lipstick gallery HERE), this subscription will tickle your fancy.

Here is your chance to win the May Lip monthly Bag!  Please note, that colours may differ slightly from the ones I reviewed.

All you need to do is tell me the following:

How does wearing a (new) lipstick make you feel?

The most creative answer will get to try the May Lip Monthly valued at US$68.95!  (sorry, Australian Residents only this time!)

Good luck!

  1. I got the april bag and I actually was disappointed. The little lip gloss and hikari lipstick were the only things I have used, the purple eyeliner I have used to write my weight loss on my mirror and the gloss is too orange for me 🙁 I LOVE lip products, because finding a new brand or shade is exciting, but the May bag looked so much better lol

  2. What a temptress you are Barbe – if I don’t get around to signing up tonight, it’ll be later this week! Wearing a new lippy is my payoff for working so hard and such long hours – the right shade has me oozing confidence, and I honestly don’t care a fig that my brows aren’t symmetrical or my concealer blending sucks. Not even a pair of Manolo Blahniks can do that!

  3. Hey Barbe. Congrats on becoming a lip monthly ambassador, how exciting! Loved your little reviews and rating system. P.S. Was seriously hoping that blue pencil was for the lips, how fun would that be! Also, love that Lip Monthly now offers free worldwide shipping! That’s a dream come true for us Aussies.

So, wearing a new lipstick gives me a few emotions. The first is dang, I look fine, this shade looks amazing on me, what a win. Secondly, is the blogger in me who is sub-consciencely evaluating the formula, wear-time and comfort of the lipstick. Thirdly, is coming home and the realising that I already have at least three other lipsticks in this shade, then not caring because I love lipstick!

  4. I love new lipsticks! How they make me feel depends on the shade and that’s the beauty of lipsticks in my opinion! The trick of course is finding the right colour for how you want to, or need to, feel!

Thanks to the new, free worldwide shipping I am so tempted to subscribe! I suspect I will by the end of the day – lol!

  5. Wearing lipstick makes me feel as close to sexy as I’m going to get. My lips pretty much blend into my face without a pop of colour. I think my teeth are my nicest facial feature so lipstick can draw attention to them…..rather than the zit on my cheek hehe
