This review I will be rating each bag out of 10 on the following merits:
- Value for money
- Quality of products
- Colour selection
Lip Monthly Bag December 2015
- Be A Bombshell Crayon “Bitten” US$16 – not available in Australia
- Evelyn Iona Lip/Cheek Tint in “Ash”, but I believe this is a sample size. Full size is US$22. not available in Australia
- MeMeMe Long Wear Satin Lip Cream “Persian Pink” US$15, not available in Australia
- Hikari Blush “Tango”, US$15 – not available in Australia
Total value according to Lip Monthly : US$68
My favourites this month?
This bag I have seen before. I am a little peeved that the Evelyn Iona Lip/Cheek Tint is described as a full size worth US$22 when it is clearly a sample size. The bag is still good value but definitely not US$68, to me it is more US$46 worth. The MeMeMe lipstick is my favourite. It is a great nude colour, and the packaging (I am such a sucker for good packaging!!) is amazing. Always love a good crayon especially if it is the windup type with no sharpener involved. The colour is a very long wearing soft berry. The Hikari blush is lovely and soft and a good, big size but the colour is not one I would wear. (my girlfriends will love me!)
I give the December Lip Monthly bag a 7 out of 10.
Lip Monthly Bag January 2016
- Starlooks Luxe Longwear Lip Pencil in “Stellar” US$6 – not available in Australia
- Coastal Scents Lipstick 08 US$8 – not available in Australia
- City Colour Be Matte Lipstick in “Latte” US$4.99 – not available in Australia
- Oscar Blandi Hair Masque US$25+ – some products available from Sephora, but can not find this one online.
Total value according to Lipmonthly: US$41.94+
Sooooo. Lip Monthly.
When the lip products are worth US$16.94 and the extra hair product is worth more, that seems to me that it should be called Hair Monthly?
Seriously, not so happy with this one. None of the products are that great: the Coastal Scents is way too creamy and applies blotchy. The City Color I had trouble applying, because it was so dry. Admittedly, I have not tried the hair masque. I lend it to a friend when out on a girls weekend, and haven’t seen it since. My favourite product in this bag is the $6 lipliner (and this is a discontinued product!)
I give the January Bag a 4 out of 10 for less than acceptable value and quality, but is saved by the colour selection.
Lip Monthly Bag February 2016
- Prim Botanicals Lip Glow US$22, not available in Australia
- Seraphine Vegan Berry Tint “Cherry Cream” US$18, not available in Australia
- NYC Expert Last Lip Color “sugarcone”, Varies but approx US$2 , not available in Australia
- Harvey Prince Organics, Body Cream Sample $3
Total Value according to Lip Monthly: US$45
A very pretty collection for February, Lip Monthly, with 3 vegan products: the Seraphine Botanicals, the Prim Botanicals and the Harvey Prince Organics body cream sample. The small Lip and Cheek Glow from Prim Botanicals is a lovely little compact with 2 colours, a brighter pink and a soft fuchsia. Albeit that the RRP for this very small compact is a little steep: $22?? – the fuchsia colour is perfect for my skin, it is one of those “better than your own lips” colour. The soft frost pink of the NYC is a classic. The sample of the body cream is lovely but the Seraphine Vegan Berry Tint is my favourite. The colour is punchy, it dries matte from a liquid and it lasts and lasts and lasts. Right through dinner!
I am very happy with this months Lip Monthly.
I rate it an 8 out of 10.
So as you can see, this subscription is mostly a good one, dare I say it, a mixed bag. I guess you can’t keep everyone happy all the time, but overall I have decided to continue with the subscription. My girlfriends will be happy because they will be getting all the pink colours!
