Room tour and make up storage ideas

Hello you gorgeous Fashionistas. You look particularly radiant today.

I have something a little different today:

A video tour of the room I would like to spend most of my time in,  the spare room that I turned into my beauty room. I could literally spend hours in there organising and reorganising, and playing with my make up.

Yeah, I am weird.

Anyway, here it is. Hopefully this video might give you some make up storage ideas.

The video is about 13 minutes, grab a cuppa or a lovely red and sit back.

Oh and can I just say: “HI!”  I forgot to do that in the video..

Just a few links and thank youz:

  • Quilt was made by my very clever daughter.
  • Dior shopping bag was sent to me by one of my lovely readers, Helena
  • The Fashionista original watercolour (you can see her on my blog header too) was painted by Jemma White

  • Ikea purchases: Alex 9 drawer unit, Malm dressing table and stool, rug, frames, plant pot brush holders

  1. Wow, that’s a girls paradise!!! My tip for brushes in the bathroom is a toothbrush holder. I have a roll of brushes but my four faves have their own tooth brush holder for ease of access. I have a question about shelf life…do you need to get rid of ALL your makeup Barbe after 2 years? It looks like you’ve been collecting for a while. On the flipside it’s a good excuse for a shop up! I love your room and can’t wait for my own lady room, your prints are gorgeous.
jenni from Styling Curvy recently posted…THAT ONE TIME I DROVE 750KMS FOR A SALE…YEAH THAT.My Profile

    1. Hiya Jen!
This is my take on all things expiry dates and it is only my personal one.
mascaras: 3 months. I really only use one mascara. The ones j have in my container are either gifts,or still unused, or if they are dried up they go in my hair drawer to touch up my roots.
Anything Cream based: foundations, concealers lipsticks: you will know when they are off. In lipsticks the colour will separate or will smell a little off. That is when I throw away my lipsticks, not before.
Anything powder based: I have eyeshadows and blushes that are over 20 years old. They are as good as the day I bought them and I will not throw them out just because the cosmetic companies tell me to.
Pencils I will keep until they are dried up And break. Until then I will regularly sharpen them.
If I use any of my make up on anyone else, I spray it with antiseptic or scrape off the lipstick just as they do with testers in stores.
In short, if it looks different than before, if it smells funny it is probably off and it goes in the bin. Powdered shadows and blush I keep forever.
Again this is my personal opinion, good question though!! And great tip re the toothbrush holder. X
