Ever wonder how to get to lunchtime with your lipstick still in tact?
Try these tips. I think you will find them helpful.
1. Buff your lips. Get rid of those bits of dry skin. I use ELF Lip Exfoliator but a soft toothbrush will work as well
2. Outline OUTSIDE your lipline with a concealer. I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro Pencil here, but any concealer will do.
3. Blend concealer or foundation to blur the outline of your lips. Don’t cover the full lips, just the outline.
4. Make sure your lipliner is the same colour or one shade darker than your lipstick, and ensure it is very, very sharp to get a clean line. Don’t worry if it is uneven , we can fix it up with a little concealer later. Lipliner is MAC Kiss me Quick
5. Fill in your lips with the lipliner. This gives a great base for your lipstick.
6. Blot a tissue over your mouth and powder with a translucent powder. This step can also be done over the lipstick, to be reapplied over the top of this step.
7. Use a lip brush to apply your lipstick. This way it is applied evenly and not thicker in areas where it tends to bleed into fine lines around the lips. Lipstick is MAC Russian Red
8. Tidy up the outline with a brush or a cotton bud with a little concealer. SMILE! You’re done!

Some more little hints for you to make your lippy last:
• This sounds gross, but lick the glass or cup that you are drinking out of before touching with your lips. The   lipstick will stay on your lips, not on the rim!
• Use a straw whenever you can
• There are Lip Primers out. I tried the MAC one the other day. I think it compromises the texture of the lipstick, but you might like them. Give them a go.
• Use matt or long-lasting lippies. The Matt lipsticks (MAC are my favourites) tend to last longer than glossies. Some of the liquid-to-matt lip stains don’t budge for most of the day. Lime Crime does amazing ones, so does Australis.
Do you have any hints or tips to share? Which lipstick lasts the longest for you?

Great list Barbe! I have never tried that tissue/ powder trick but I’ll be sure to try it now! Also, Kat Von D makes awesome long lasting liquid lipsticks. xo Kristina recently posted…Find Your Perfect Color with Paula Dorf
I am yet to try the Kat Von D lipsticks or anything in her range for that matter. It has just landed our shores in the new Sephora store just before last Christmas. Hmm maybe this week is the time to try one! xo
I always luck my coffee cup before that first sip…it works! Because I like to mix lippies I also chop a bit of my lippy off and scrape it into a clear screw top container (tiny one) to carry with a lip brush when travelling, only carrying my main lippy with mixers in pots. Great post Barbe x
Eventhough that is a really good idea and a practical one, i could not get myself to chop up a lipstick! You have no idea how big my beauty case is when i go travelling! I cop a lot of flack from my family trust me xoxo
Great tips. My longest lasting lipstick is Rimmel London’s Provocalips. The colour lasts all day, through all my eating and drinking! Ingrid @ Fabulous and Fun Life recently posted…Makeup Organisation Solutions
Thanks for your tips Barbe. I’m definitely going to have to try this as my lipstick wears off so quickly and I really can’t be bothered re-applying many times throughout the day.
