Where I went today – IMATS Sydney 2014 (and my haul!!)

I was like a kid in a lolly shop today!
the International Make Up Artists Trade Show was back in Sydney this year.
Last years IMATS 2013 was great fun, and I was really looking forward to going again this year.

I am not a practicing make up artist right now. But I was, BC (Before Children). I freelanced to do weddings and would also do make ups at the store that I was managing all those years ago.

I still dabble now. Apart from my daughter’s “Cheerleading” Face, I also help out at formals, and a recent girl’s weekend away had me doing 3 winged eyeliners! You can get the girl out of make up, but you can’t get the make up out of the girl!

A great chance to stock up on some hard to find products today, at a trade show discount.

A big part of the show is the special effects make up. Absolutely fascinating what can be done with make up and prothesis!

Next was a demo done by Eliza Campagna, a make up artist who has done work for a lot of Australian Television as well as the movies Wolverine and The Great Gatsby.

She did 2 different type of make ups, a natural and a smokey eye, using Ben Nye products.

And then. There was shopping.

Some of the brands exhibiting were: MAC Pro, Ben Nye, Lime Crime, Sugar Pill Cosmetics, Sigma Cosmetics, Melli Cosmetics, and many more.

Here is what I bought!

Melli Cosmetics Velvet Primer (giving this a go. Trying to save some money by not replacing my Hourglass one. This one is a little more mattifying which is great for summer) Rose Gold packaging for 2 nude lippies, one pink based and one brown based. I am such a sucker for nice packaging!!

Lime Crime Velveteen: Utopia, Wicked and Salem

Ben Nye Palette. One of the sales girls was telling me how she uses the shadows for contouring as well. Winning!

Such pretty pink brushes! Bdellium Tools Bamboo Vegan brushes

Ben Nye Banana Powder – yes, the one Kim Kardashian’s make up artist uses on that famous contouring/highlighting photo. Banana=yellow=brightening. Also, Ben Nye Liquiset for eyeliners and I will be using this for my eyebrow powder/gel/pomade as well.

I will try and do individual reviews of my goodies.

Such a fun day, I loved every minute of it.

Do you use any of the above products? Should I have purchased anything else?

Til next time,
