I live at the Southern Beaches of Sydney. And I love to support local business.

When I read about a mum and daughter team opening their flagship store just up the road from (Oh. This could be dangerous.) i had to go check it out.

I have seen and admired their leather clothing on Social media before, not realising they are local gals. Monique and her daughter Tiarne Ettinghausen.

What it says on their website:

With early careers in the fashion industry, they both developed a bond for fashion forward pieces, with breathtaking leather items specifically catching their eye. T & M travelled afar to source only the best materials to create their Zaliah items, so each piece can grow old with their owner and stand the test of time. The backbone behind ZALIAH is creating beautiful products using only the very best quality leather/suede and selling the garments at an affordable price point.

“Quality not quantity” is what they stand by. Each item is individually made upon order, and many hours have been spent to make sure every product is exactly how they want it. With a goal to always produce high quality garments, they guarantee you will not be disappointed in your Zaliah piece!

The shop is very lovely. Bright, minimalistic with some lovely decorator pieces around the place. I recognise some of them as coming from www.zohiinteriors.com.au. Another local business.

The walls are lined with delicious, soft leather pieces in black, stunning khaki, warm oxblood, and gunmetal.

A sprinkling of accessories, delicate lingerie, and hats and bags.

So what did I walk out with?

An investment piece.

A jacket that will forever be in my wardrobe. It is the perfect length, still classic with a total edgy style. A little Chanel-type stitching on the shoulders.

I had found THE perfect leather jacket!!

And the hat?

A whimsical had-to-have-hope-that-wasn’t-a-mistake buy.

Beautiful made in Australia hat. As my husband said: how much was that? it looks expensive! And I just said, I am not telling you!

And that was all.

I have my eye on a gorgeous fold over clutch and that delicious distressed gunmetal leather track pants!! But first. Let me win lotto.

  1. Oh wow that jacket is delicious, I love the quilting! Had to have piece and the hat is awesome…tres cool x

  2. I love this post! As another ‘southern sydney beach’ dweller I’m really interested in seeing more local shops this this one, and their clothing profiled.
