What I bought at Kmart – E.L.F. haul!

A sharp breath intake, and a “OOOHHHH ELF” exclamation happened when I spotted the stand at my local Kmart in Sydney. Now, my international readers might think: Meh, what is the big deal? But, I had never tried the brand and hadn’t come across this brand anywhere. I am a bit of a make up snob but I was intrigued by the reviews and the retail prices!

E.L.F. (Eyes, Lips, Face) is a US drugstore brand. Extremely affordable and from what I have been reading, great products.
Just do a search on YOUTUBE and there is a multitude of reviews.

The offering in the store was fairly limited, there were lots of empty spaces on the stand. The products are new to Kmart, so i guess I just have to be patient.

This is what I found. All prices are in AUD$.

E.L.F. Flawless Concealer Brush $8

The packaging says:

Create an airbrush effect with the Flawless Concealer Brush using any liquid or powder concealer. The unique rounded shape allows you to contour and cover areas easily. Create buildable coverage from light to heavy for a customizable look that is smooth and flawless.

I liked this brush a lot. Perfect size and consistency for blending and building. HIT!!!

E.L.F. Cream Eyeliner in Black $8

Creates smooth lines that are defined and precise. Smudge-proof, budge-proof and water-resistant coverage for all day wear to combat against, sweat, tears and rain! Slanted Eyeliner Brush included!

I am in LOVE. I normally use Napoleon China Doll Liner and I have nearly run out. $35 as opposed to $8? No brainer!

I tested both on my hand first. Left is Napoleon and right is E.L.F. The consistency of E.L.F. is creamier. I let them both dry and then tried rubbing them off. The E.L.F. had better staying power. (The brush that was supposed to be included was missing out of my box. I actually bought an angled E.L.F. eyeliner brush since and that has been FANTASTIC!! More about that another time)

E.L.F. Studio Waterproof Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara $8

Achieve thicker, fuller, and longer lashes that are beautiful and natural. The enlarged brush coats your lashes evenly for an enhanced appeal. The unique formula is clump free and quick drying so you can have color that stays on all day with no smudging and no flaking. Waterproof, tear-proof and sweat proof for a look that lasts against all odds.

Nice brush but nothing too exciting. Slightly lengthening: i have no lashes to speak off but it has made mine a bit more noticeable. At $8, without sounding too repetitive: HIT!!

E.L.F. Luscious Liquid Lipstick – Baby Lips $3

True Colour therapy is here. Intensive hydrating agents along with natural pigments leave lips with long-lasting Colour and moisture. This luscious liquid lipstick creates wearable Colour that flatters a multitude of skin tones and looks.

A really lovely natural looking lipgloss. Easy to apply with an angled sponge tip. Like this colour a lot. Great value. Another HIT!!

E.L.F. Matte Lipcolour Praline $8

This convenient jumbo sized lip pencil creates exact color application with twist up ease so you never have to sharpen. The pigment rich color glides on effortlessly and easily to provide long lasting matte color.

Highly pigmented pencil, very creamy. Not much staying power. Not too keen on the consistency. Verdict? OK. Just ok.

I am so impressed with this range. Such good quality for such good value. I am looking forward to trying some other products.

  1. Awesome post! e.l.f. has a lot of great stuff. I love their Studio Line brushes (I have their Blush, Angled, Bent Liner brushes which are all great. I’m iffy on their stippling brushes, though). If you ever come across it, you should check out their Mist & Set Spray. It’s a really inexpensive setting spray that you can also use to spray your shader brush and get more pigmentation out of eyeshadows.

  2. E.L.F. products have, overall, really impressed me considering their very low price point. And I agree with Kristina – the price is low enough that it’s not the end of the world if a product doesn’t work for you! 🙂

    1. I was really pleased that the prices were kept low for the Australian market. We really get the raw end of the deal here with prices more than doubled for the likes of some brands like MAC. grrrrrrr!
